Pilates Retreat
6 - 8 September 2024

We'll be staying at Fair Oak Farm in Mayfield, Kent, with its unique range of historic and stylish group accommodation, including barns, tree lodges & shepherd's huts.  It is set in stunning countryside, in a protected area of outstanding natural beauty, yet only 1.5 hours from London.

The area is perfect for country walks & pub lunches (2 pubs just 2 miles away).  There's a cinema barn on site where you can just chillax watching a film with friends, have a fun game of table tennis, an infra-red sauna for 2 or 3 in the garden, or enjoy a read in your luxury accommodation.

Food is an important part of our retreats and we've found an incredible chef who trained in French cuisine, but also specialises in Thai food, so we're giving you the opportunity to experience both!  Your Saturday brunch and dinner,  Sunday breakfast and lunch are included in the price of the retreat.  Don't forget that you also have your own kitchen facilities.

Each day you'll get to enjoy practicing Pilates in the morning and late afternoon (gentler session in the morning, more invigorating one in the late afternoon).  All levels are welcome from beginner to advanced.

The wonderful Brenda Nassali-Liston will be sharing the teaching with Sophie Compton Carr.  Brenda is a passionate movement teacher with a keen interest in the function of the feet. Brenda's teaching style and toolkit is significantly shaped by her further training and knowledge of the fascial body, functional anatomy, gait training and biomechanics.

Having two teachers means we can help with corrections and keep you moving safely.

If you’re wanting even more pilates than what we have planned, there will be optional one-to-one pilates sessions with Brenda or Sophie, which you can book at an additional fee.  You could ask for a tailored private session, which could include small equipment such as the foam roller, pilates arc, sit fit, or overball.  We can give you a challenging session, or help you with movements to ease a tension or restriction you're experiencing.

We also have Giulia Volpe on site, who will be providing osteopathy; remedial massage; scar release; western acupuncture, IASTM & dry cupping.  It's a real treat to have direct access to her, as she's both a very talented osteopath and a lovely warm person (she'll be doing the pilates with us too!!).  Treatment will take place in a fully kitted out treatment room within a barn.  Appointments can be pre-booked directly with Giulia, at an additional fee.  Remaining time slots can be booked during the weekend.

What are we hoping your ‘take-away’ will be from this weekend?

Primarily we would like you to experience a true break from your daily life. It should be a time when you can focus on yourself, with no interruptions. This doesn’t mean we’re going to ask you to give up your mobiles at the front door (!), but we’d like you to reflect on whether a weekend away from your phone/work/kids might be revitalising. Give yourself permission to do whatever makes you feel relaxed.

We have sorely missed out making new connections during the pandemic years, so we hope that this weekend might provide an opportunity to chat with like-minded companions, or at least find some camaraderie during the planned activities shown in the itinerary above.

This weekend will be all about listening to yourself and realising what your mind and body needs.
